Default New struts now problems

2006 f150. Just replaced front struts correctly I thought. Pulled out the assembly and installed new ones just like the old ones. Side by side removal and installation like I always do to double check my work. Had an alignment done afterwards. Now I hear a clunk noise at all speeds that appears to be from the front left. Also at 70 mph not any other speed the steering wheel shakes almost uncontrollably until I reach 75 or reduce speed to 65. Any ideas? Searched forum didn't find anything real similar. New struts/ shocks are Monroe sense trac. Thanks

Sounds like somethings loose. You should go back and tighten EVERY nut you touched. Even if you think they all are, it's worth the frustration to jack it and remove the wheels again.

I'll give it a try. Only thing I'm not sure about is how tight the top strut nut is supposed to be. Since you have to hold the rod and wrench at the same time

The top outer nuts are supposed to be 35 ft. lbs. The top center nut is supposed to be 22 ft. lbs. The bottom nut is supposed to be 351 ft. lbs.

351 ft lbs for the bottom bolt? That doesn't sound right to me. Both were pretty easy to break with just a breaker bar.

Ok well I went through and retorqued everything. The shake at 70 has lessened but still have the clunk noise coming from the front. Springs looked to be seated I'm at a loss to what the cause is. Guess I'll be seeing the dealership maņana

When you re-installed the springs to the shock absorbers did you make sure the springs set in correctly with the isolators (the rubbery things that the top of the springs seat into)? They must be seated perfectly and yes, the shock absorber to lower control arm bolts must be torqued to 351 ft/lbs. I took my breaker bar and put all my weight into it just to torque mine down when I replaced my struts and still only got to around 280 ft/lbs (I think. It was close enough cause those things are on tight).
