Default New to edge

Hey guys I'm sorry if this has already been covered. But i looked and I really couldn't find what i was looking for. I just recently put an edge programer in it and I'm new to the programming thing. So my question is what is all the differant settings? And what should I mess with and leave alone? I don't want to mess anything up. I'm just trying to see if I can get the max mpg outta it. Thanks guys

Lvl 1 is only transmission shift point. Lvl 2 is towing which needs 89 octane fuel for the most output level 3 is extreme needs 93 octane

With being new to programing I would just run the canned tunes and don't mess with the extra setting yet. Level 1 is a waste (that's my opinion). It just changes some shift points and firmness in the trans. Level 2 increases hp and tq and changes the shift points in the trans for smoother shifting. You can still run 87 octane or higher in this setting. Level 3 is the performance tune. You HAVE to run 93 octane for the advanced timing.

i thought level 1 and 2 were designed for 87 octane only? I leave my truck on lvl 2 and it doesnt seem to perform right if i put 89 in the tank.

I have found that level 2 is the best choice for me, power and mileage. I run 90+ octane and have the following settings:

Edge Custom Settings: Level 2
Shift Firmness: 1-2 & 2-3 = 12 3-4 = 10
Torque Conv. Std. Lock Pts: 3rd = -2 4th = -4
Timing: +1.00
Gears: 3.55
Tire size = 2553
My tires are LT265/70/17

I did these settings from looking at what others were saying on this site mainly and some experimentation. My mileage did increase and power is much better.

I looked in the manual before but I could be wrong. I put 89 on lvl 2 and it was fine

Did you notice if your torque convertor actually locks up at lower speeds now? Mine does not, even though I have it set to. Still 41mph or so in 4th gear. Mine's an '08 STX w/ a 4.6.

I can't tell if it does or not, I know that it feels better since I put these set points in but could not say which setting made the difference. Will have to experiment when the weather gets better.
