Default Muffler ?

I have a 06 XLT with a 5.4 and was wondering what muffler to put on the stock exhaust and tail-pipe to give a nice rumble. But not too loud like most flowmaster's.

Default Dynomax!!!

hands down the best muffler for anything is the Dynomax VT (http://www.dynomax.com/mufflers.php?muffler=vt). I have heard a few and I have to tell you that if the magnaflow system on my truck wasn't so much money I would replace it in a heartbeat with the Dynomax VT set up.

You get the best of both worlds. On those long highway drives there is no drone, no exhaust note really to speak of but you set on the fun switch and look out. That exhaust will uncork itself and scream get outta my way!

I have a flowmaster and it's pretty loud. I have heard great things about magnaflow though for what you want.

Was anyone able to re use their tail pipe? Mine bends right out of the muffler. Even if I cut it close to the muffler, I don't know if there is enough material to connect to.

I was able to use mine, had an Aerochamber installed and its much shorter than the coffin OEM so they just added bout 1.5' of pipe.

How does that Areochamber sound at idle as well as under acceleration compared to the stock can?

Soundclip here

https://www.f150forum.com/f4/holley-...chamber-70913/

This is my first V8 and although i only had it for about a month before putting it on (was a bday present) i am very satisfied. I can try to get a better sound clip as this was done with my Iphone and it does not do it any justice. It has a nice low growl at idle but when you get on it it does roar pretty good. Seems like everyone around here has custom exhaust and i have heard many that are ratty loud and i dont think they sound good. I do not have the opinion that louder is better. Next to no drone on the hwy only time you really hear it on the hwy is around 1800 rpm between 60-70 mph. after 70 and over 1800 rpm dont really hear it till you get on it. My main reason for putting it on was performance and not sound even though i am very pleased so far.

Flowmaster delta series 50... Removed brand new stock muffler and had it installed and used same tail pipe and added a tip...not too loud...no drone.. I think thats what your looking for. You had same concerns as I did. Good luck.
