Default motor help

Ok so last week the truck would just shut off at idle.I took it to the dealer and they replaced the Thorttle body and motor. I picked it up 3 days ago and it seemed to run fine for a few miles, after that it started shutting off again. I found that the vacume line to the air intake hose was missing. Went back to the dealer again- They replaced the vacume line said sorry and said the truck is fine- a few miles later and the motor is shutting off again! Any Ideas?

maybe a processor problem? I had my processor fried one time and my truck's throttle response wouldn't work at all. I had to get it towed to the Ford dealership. I don't know if that's the only thing that will happen if the processor goes out... or it was just showing one symptom. I was glad to find out that I have a 5 year warranty on the processor (my truck being an 04)

Lets start allover. Make, model, year, and engine? When does it quit? Are you just driving down the road, comming to stops, quits when starting to accelerate, you know stuff like that. CEL lite on or off.

its a 5.4 2005, with 60,000- it shuts off at idle or any time the rpm go below 1000. No check engine lights on either. The dealer said the cpu needed to be reset- Could it be that easy of a fix?

Yes, in this case with no CEL that is probably what has to be done. Unfortunately, I don't know how this reset is done. Perhaps someone else will enlighten both of us.

so the dealer said the reason that the truck was shutting off was that a small oil leak had devoloped in the front main seal. This small leak was dripping on the crank shaft position sensor which in turn was confusing the cpu which lead to the shutting off problem. I think the dealer is just ripping me off- what do you guys think?

Thats actually possible. The sensor is not hard to change and is pretty available. Change it yourself and put a new front seal in.

Not trying to cause trouble, I just can't believe that oil on the Hal-Effect sensor is the problem. Wouldn't rain or any liquid have the same bad effect. I think the're fishing. Hope they are right for your sake, wouldn't be the first nor the last time I'll be eating crow.
