Default looking for a f150

first let me say i did look at the sticky's before i decided to post this.

well i just got moved to Colorado by the army and need to step down in truck size, needed to before but that's besides the point. i have my mind set on a 04+ fx4. what the the common issues with this truck. i love to wheel and want to throw at least 35's under it maybe 38's depending on how the terrain is out here what kind of lift am i looking at. the kits i found have blocks for the rear , is there a good kit that replaces the leafs or a add-a-leaf. how dose the 5.4 respond to tuning, is it like the other mod. motors from ford? how are the hubs with sticking. my broncos auto hubs stuck all the time so i ended up changing for warn premiums. as of now that's all that i can think of.
thanks for the help,
b

04-07 5.4 has two piece spark plugs that tend to break
04-05 5.4 can have cam phaser issues
07+ you get a line in for the radio

Make sure you wouldn't rather have a lariat, the skid plates were an option, and you'll be changing the shocks anyways going that high. Look at the model year brochures in the xlt vs fx4 vs lariat thread for all the differences. Look for the LS if you're not going to lock it (there will be a letter in the axle code).

Only issue I've seen with the front axle engagement is the IWE solenoids going bad (looks like an easy fix). I haven't seen anyone swap to manual hubs.

Haven't been looking at the bigger kits, but I haven't noticed anyone running replacement leaf springs. May be able to get a aal/block combo to keep the block height down.

I've been impressed with my trucks response to a superchips tune, others recommend a rebranded Edge Evolution called a Gryphon or the SCT setup.

Good luck with the search, former Bronco owner here, too.

The search on this site won't work for two letters, so you could type the full title of the thread in and it would just search for xlt, fx4, lariat. Which would probably be half the threads on the site.

Skyjacker has a kit with rear springs, and you could get another kit and get deaver springs for the rear.
