Default Looking at buying

Iam looking at getting a f150 either an 04 or 05 and was wondering what to watch out for. Is there anything that was changed from 04 to 05 or 05 to 06. Also wondering what average gas milage is on these things. I get abot 11 on my durango now so I am hoping to improve that! They seem like nice trucks. Any help or info would be great. I am going to start looking and test driving. Just wondeirng what to look for! thanks again

Hi Butch, welcome to the site! I can't comment specifically on the 04/05 and 06's, but I have an 07 and I get anywhere from 15-17mpg (roughly).

And you're right, they ARE nice trucks

I think the 04-05's had a torsion bar front suspension and for 06 they went with a coilover setup. Other than that the only difference I know of is that 04-05's have rectangle fog lights and 06 and up's have round.

my 04 has struts or you could call it a coil over. average fuel is 15.5 MPG With a 5.4 L. And i have about 1500 pounds of tools, and parts on it all the time

Thanks for the help guys. That is def. better mpg than my Durango. I am also curious about the "leveling kits" Does this bring the front up and keep the back the same? I will probably want to run like 33" tires. Can I do this stock or am I better off getting a leveling kit. I just don't like lifted trucks at all with small tires. I like the "filled wheel well" look! Thanks again guys. I assume they sit "nose down" Stock?

It looks to me like all of your assumptions are correct, lol

And the torsion bars were on the 97-03 4x4 trucks.

Is there a big difference between the 04, 05, and 06 trucks? I am reading quite a bit about the injector issue. is this pretty common or not? I am looking at buying an 05 with 20,000miles on it and am wondering if I should change the injectors when I get it, and if I do will it void the warranty? thanks

Here is a good example of 2.5" level kit with a 1" additional rear block and 33's...

Dude, I love that truck! That is exactly what I want......silver with the black rims and 33's. What gas milage do you get with that setup, and what is a good leveling kit to get? thanks again...can't wait to get one of these!
