Default Looking to buy this truck, what should I look out for???

I am looking to buy this truck

http://www.autotrader.com/dealers/in...9&cardist=5646

I have never owned a full size, and reading through the forums I know there are a few things the I need to look out for. The only hitch is this truck is about 8 hours away so its not easy to go take a look. I would appreciate any help and advice so I don't get into a lemon.

Maintainance records..
IE..

When and if the sparkplugs were ever changed..
transmission issues at all.. plus when the fluid was changed last
listen for the cam phaser knocking noise

I'd say the main thing would be take it for a real good test drive and really feel out the tranny..

Nice. Just got the same exact thing except scab. Same year, trim, mi w/in 2k too haha. I got mine for less so I would try and get it for 1-2k less. Tax and DMV sucks!

I am looking for rims just like those!!! I'll trade you if you get it. (20" Voodoo with Scorpion ATR (275x55x20))

Lol a little premature but I might as well call dibs now, and hope you want chrome over black. GLWS!

I am not sure how far this is for you ...assuming you live in WV.

This is the one I was about a day away from picking up. I went 8 hours to get mine, this one was only 1 more hour away but if you're buying something nice and it's exactly what you want, spend the day driving to go get it.

This one is 4k less with everything the same.

I'm sure it depends on your location but that 04 Lariat seems a bit high. I'd think about $17-18k is the most I'd pay for an 04-05 unless it had 500 miles on it and was loaded.

I like that first on.....a little high on the price for both of them though.

Take it to an independent mechanic and get a complete check on the vehicle. You will be spending a lot of $$$. Don't end up with something like another member had with 4wd and other problems. And an independent dealership putting "putty" on the exhaust manifold of his truck. If you have time, check the BBB record for any complaints on the dealership. All things I would do. Good Luck!
