Default Looking for advise on a future purchase

I need a crew cab with 6 seat belts and enough room in back seat for car seats. The truck must be 4X4 (between the canadian winters and camping this actually is a must). For the most part the truck will be a city run around and transportation to work for the wife. Ride comfort, cab space and fuel mileledge would be the most important things in the truck for us. We are not set on anything except truck meeting needs that I stated already. So what my question is could anyone offer advise on what drivetrains/model/year would best suit my needs as well as are there any particular drivetrain/model/year that I should steer clear of regardless of the seemingly good deal

08 screw 4x4 with the 5.4. Lots of room for anything needed. The only real problem with the trucks is 07 down had the spark plug issue (08 has updated heads) depending on engine build date anyways. All of us that I have heard of have the phaser tick. It's not a big problem really just kind of I annoying to some. You really can't go wrong with any of these trucks. IMO

The Ram 1500 has useless rear seat area unless you get the very rare Megacab. The Tundra has more room than the F-150 in the rear seat area but the frame is as strong as warm licorice. The Chevy/GMC are decent but they lag legroom for the rear passengers. I can't comment on the Titan.

I have a buddy with a Titan, and he loves it. Lots of rear leg room, but a rather short box to compensate. I almost bought one, but you just can't go wrong with a SuperCrew F150, there's a reason they are best selling trucks out there.

And if you're looking for safety, a fully boxed frame in an F150 is unsurpassed.

Could always get a v6 for the best mpgs tooling around town. Especially if you go 09 with the 3.7.

we have been looking at smaller engines but honestly they are hard to find in my area. there is a lot of 4X4's on the road here and most either pull holiday trailers or are oilfield work trucks either way everyone in Alberta goes for the bigger engines and or diesels

Those Eco boosts are sweet. A lot of power potential for cheap, with a tune and exhaust you can add about 100 hp and torque.
I can't wait to drop twins on mine.

Hmm maybe you could have luck finding what you need further away. Both my vehicles were purchased over 1000 miles from my house. Because i wanted the 4.6 instead of the 5.4 and it had to be 08 for the extra hp in the 4.6. Very picky but it was worth the trip.
