Default Leveling Question

I am looking at replacing my shocks and struts next month and came across the Pro Comp Pro Runner SS shocks and was wondering if I'd be able to put my leveling spacer on top of them when the shocks are set to give 2.5" of level. The Pro Comps have 2 settings for stock then 2.5". I am wanting more height but don't have the money for a full lift kit. Is this possible or is it a bad idea? If it is a bad idea could I do it with Bilstein 5100's set at 1" lift?

It's not a good idea. The upper control arm would rub the coil and the cv axles would be at a very extreme angle. The max you can lift without a full lift kit is 3" and some people say that it wears out the front end components.

So probably stick with stock ride height on the shocks and keep using the 2" or 2.5" spacer that is already on there? And do you have any experience with pro comp shocks?

That's what I would do. I don't have any experience with the pro comps. I just put on ranchos about a month ago and love them. There is a thread floating around about the pro comps. There was an issue with the ride heigh setting on them that I don't think ever got resolved.

Here's the thread about the pro comps

Ace the spacer and go with either the Pro comps or the 5100's

The issue with the ride height would be a problem for me. If I'm gonna pay more for the leveling shock it should truly level it. Are you running the Rancho 5000's? They're a lot cheaper than the Bilsteins and I could just keep my spacer to level it. Also I know that the Bilsteins have a lifetime warranty (maybe just a rumor???), do y'all know if there is truth to this? Or if Rancho offers any warranty like this?

I have the 9000xl shocks on the rear and the quicklift struts on the front. I'm not sure about the warranties.

I'll check into those. The quicklift is the full assembly correct?

The loaded quicklifts come with new coils and are fully pre-assembled. They are not adjustable but give a 2.5" lift

Sounds like a good deal. They're more than the bilsteins but they replace the coil and I could probably sell the spacer so that justifies the cost.
