thanks gator8,

i am having a good friend look at the vehicle for me this Friday if it hasn't been purchased by then due to it being 8 hours away. He was a certified mechanic for 4 years and went to school for mechanical engineering with me so I trust his opinion. If all goes well I'll be placing a deposit on it in 2 days through pay pal, then pay the rest when I go get it.

Will the harness just be laying under the drivers seat or will it be connected to the motor switches on the seat?

My wife has the heated seat option in her BMW. At first I thought it was a extravagant option, but she's the type that can catch a chill in the summer when a fly buzzes past her. Keeping her backside warm is a nice option on a chilly morning. I see no reason why a heated seat option requires a comment to "man up".

GATORB8 mentioned the factory option integrates the heated seats within the climate control option. If you have this option (automatic climate control), then the seat wiring connector may already be factory wired, and simply installing seats with this feature would be plug and play so to speak. That or find a pair of junked seats with the factory heating pads and install them into your seats.
I can check my factory schematic book tonight and get the wiring color code for the heated seat pad; you can then check to see if these wires are currently existing in the underseat wiring connector.
you! have enough cash to keep your ole lady in a beemer, you should know what these trucks are built for! MAN UP and work out of your truck for one day! heated seats are for women and imports. you must have never had to plug your sissy *** truck in at night and had MOOSE EAT THE PLUG! Keep your import and stop telling me about a comment!

Happy wife, happy life, and if heated seats are going to help make her or yourself more comfortable, get some. It gets cold where I live too, and they sure are nice. Hell they're even nice when your back is a little sore or something on the way home from work or if you're just getting out of the lake or something, they really take the chill off.

I had a friend that had aftermarket heated seats, they seemed to work slick, except they weren't wired to be on with the key, so sometimes they'd get left on and kill the battery.

Hell, I'd have heated and cooled seats if it was an easy enough conversion.

I had the seats in my XLT changed from cloth to leather a year ago and the front seat heaters added. Rather than try to tie into the factory switch positions on the dash, we just put the switches on the side of the seats, near the reclining lever. No problems and yes they are great when you have a sore back, not just when the weather is cool. It was $400 extra for the parts and installation for driver and passenger front seats when I had the seat covers changed...a bargain.

The heated seat stock switches are a part of the A/C control panel, so you'll have to rig up a way to send the signal (IIRC it's a digital signal, not a straight voltage on/off switch, you may be able to simulate it with a momentary switch(es), though).

The memory may be hit or miss as well. Power is easy, but it's made to also control the adjustable pedals at the same time, so there will be some extra wiring.

Please let me know about this as well. Heated/cooled seats would be a nice addition!
