Keyless Entry???
Don't know about 04 and up but in my 03 you turn the key eight times or so from off to on and the if the door automaticly locks, you have the remote lock option. I bought two used remotes off the internet for 20 bucks apiece. Hope that helps.
I bought one spare from ebay for $17 American. You can do them both by following a procedure here on this forum. Basically it is turning the key from acc to off 8 times, the door locking is the signal you are ready to program. Hold the button and them do some more and hold the second FOB button.
The red light is some PATS crap - Passive Anti Theft System. The keypad can be found on the right rear seat back but you have to remove the seat, and the stealership can give it to you but it is like $86 to hook up. Then you can change the code, but the factory code always works.
Whitecrystal1 is THE MAN for all this, he helped me. You might try im'in' him.

Hi folks,
Wesbilly is correct. That red flashing light indicates that the Passive Anti Theft device is working properly.
When I start up my truck, the light stays on, until the truck is running smooth and then the light goes out. Otherwise, it will run in the limp home mode only. Really pisses off a car thief when the truck will no longer zoom. You can imagine driving down the road at 15 mph trying to out run the cops. But then again, if it is enough to get the truck in position so that it can be rolled up onto a flat bed...
Next Wednesday, I am due to take it to the dealership to get my alarm system installed with a command start. It was part of the swap that I got when I traded in my '05 Ford Freestyle. They got a set of Michelin X-Ice winter tires on rims, and I got a command start with alarm installed in my truck.
Now, for the professional thief. If he wants your truck, he is going to get it. Alarm, PAT, or even boobie trapped, he is going to steal it. Doesn't matter what you do to your truck.
I live in a town of 7,000 folks. There isn't alot of professional theifs that live here. Everyone seems to know everyone else. I think that a professional thief would be very short lived in this area. There is a bunch of idle teenagers that calls themselves "The Wolf Pack" and you just know where to avoid walking late at night. It is just that they don't have alot of constructive stuff to occupy their time. So they are constantly doing petty theft. Breaking in your vehicle and stealing your CD or any loose change you have in your car. They don't go after new vehicles. Just older ones that don't have alarms in them.
So if a flashing light on my dash is going to deter these yahoos...
Although my step son, has advised me, he has talked to his "peeps" and he got the word out that my truck is off limits. I almost laughed my *** off. His self proclaimed importance is laughable. But you never bite the hand that feeds you. But I must admit, if he is part of this wolf pack, and he gets caught doing something stupid. I would be the first person to put him is jail.
It just kinda pisses me off that I can finally afford to own something that I have always wanted and some jerk off wants to steal it from me. Then I have to spend more money to protect it.
Then if I am protecting it from these folks that are going to steal it from me, I am probably the one that ends up having to shell out for a lawyer, while they get a public defender and in the end, do very little time, while I end up in jail myself.
Oh but I suppose that jail is just another topic of conversation that should be reserved to another time...

your big concern should be that you only have one key.
Without 2 keys you can't make duplicates. If you ever lost that key you'd be FUBAR'd because you'd have to initialize a new master key.
I read how to do it once, something about leaving the new key in the ignition for an hour or something like that... but you really want to have a at least 3 keys for the truck in case you loose 1 you can use the other 2 to add a replacement.
As for the light on the dash, it is the Passive Anti Theft system, it keep the truck from starting without the right key, and disables the ignition for like an hour if someone puts the wrong key in the ignition.
There is a ford remote start/alarm system made by CodeAlarm that is a dealer add on. It works with the existing keyless entry/remote system or you can add the remote entry as an option in the kit.

When I bought our truck last year it only had one key as well. Cost one hudred dollars for the fob and new key to be cut and they programmed the fob by turning the key to the aux position and off ten times, then the lights flashed and then you simply push and hold the lock key down on both fobs to program them. That was on my03 truck.
