Default Throttle Body Replacement?

My truck stalled the other night and the check engine light came on. My mechanic said the error code pointed to the throttle position sensor($60).
Unfortunatly, Ford tells me that I have to replace the whole throttle body($300). The tsp is not available seperately even though all the online retailers show it. The truck idles smoothly, accelerates fine. This stall has only happened twice in the last few months. Can I just clean the throttle body?
This is starting to sound like the front brake job I had to do at 40K. That required two new front rotors at over $300 a piece because on this model year, the ABS hub is part of the rotor!

I would definantly try cleaning it first. Find a shop that does the BG induction service and do that. Even if it dosent fix it its good for the truck.
