Default Keycode for truck keys

Hello All,
Hoping you can help a lady out. I am in need of a keycode, not for keyless entry but I lost my only truck key, the dealership told me if I find the key code for my truck key they can make me a new one. Where would I be able to find the key code for my 2004 ford f150 supercrew lariet.

Strange. The dealership should be able to get you a new key based on the VIN.

Check with a local locksmith as well. Most of them can make one for you with the correct chip code for the VATS (Vehicle Anti-Theft System).

I would have no idea where the "key code" would be, unless it was on those tiny "slugs" that were on the key ring when the original owner purchased it. They always said to "keep these in a safe place" in case a new key was required.

In order to get the key code, you would have to take apart the lock cylinder assembly. then write down each individual numbers on the "tumblers" in order. that would be the key code the tumblers are numbered 1-(whatever they felt like stopping at) last one I did had 13 different tumbler numbers. then you would have to assemble it again.

YES, the key code is located on those "slugs" at time of original purchase.

for does not keep key codes on record for more than 10 years. as of right now the oldest code you can get via vin number is a 2006. your only option now is to call a lock smith
