K&N problem
I put a FIP kit on my 04 several months ago and noticed that the intake tube tends to move around alot. It also seems to be the cause of a rattling from the heat shield and the tube. Is there some type of cushion i can put in between the shield and the tube to keep it from moving so much?
This happened to me when I put the turbo on my GP. The intercooler pipes were rattling. What I did was take some newspaper and wrap it in foil and lodged it between the pipe and the fenderwell. I know there are different ways to do it but this is what worked for me for over a year. Hope this helps!!!
interesting! im gonna have to try that and see how it works. it doesnt do it all the time, just at real low rpms, like when im backin out of my driveway and turnin the wheel. its wierd.
yeah it mainly did it to me at idle and when I would hit bumps. It worried me at first until I opened the hood and saw exactly what it was. Like I said before I'm sure there are many other methods but this one worked for me.
ok so i just went outside and popped my hood and looked out it, found that my mounting bracket was snapped where the nut locks over it. not very cool.
think K&N would send me another bracket and not break my pocket at the same time?

sure as hell hope so. that aggravates me a bit, cause they send one bracket and nothing else to support that whole intake tube, so its really not a suprise that it snapped. o well, nothin a lil JB Weld wont fix temporarily.

send k&n a picture of the snapped part before you ghetto-rig it, and they will have an new one on the way free of charge. They sent me all kinds of spare parts when I was having a problem with my intake fitting up right.
