Hey guys i just picked up 2007 F-150 XLT ext cab 4x4 short bed a couple days ago and decided to check this forum out. I'm hoping to start modding it soon,
(or soon as i get money again) It only as 8500 miles on it, so its practically new still. Anyway, i have a few n00b questions for you. (hopefully none have been posted a million times)

1) Intakes, will a intake designed for a 2006 fit the 07 properly?

2) What is a good exhaust to start with, i'm looking for one that will sound good but not be droning on the highway (my last car was like that, ANNOYING)

3) Although this would be a mod done down the road, is there any bolt on FI setups (apart from nitrous) for the 4.6?

Thanks

Welcome...Need to do some research on the intake thing.. There was a good writeup on here recently for a Brute Force intake
I like Magnaflow exhaust personally. Dosent drone and sounds good WOT
Under drive pullies and such bolt on. Don't forget a tuner.. That will add some HP too.

Thanks for the quick response. I've checked out intakes some already, the only ones i've seen made specifically for the 07's are the Airaid intakes, im unsure about getting that because it doesn't replace the entire intake pipe, which looks pretty restrictive. And one more question, my truck currently has the 3.73 geared regular rear axle, would it worth while to upgrade to a L/S or locker? If so should i change the gearing to say, 4.10's?

I just installed a Air Force 1 CAI and I have to say I love it although I have a 5.4 I got mine through Troyer Performance I would check them out I'm sure they would have them for the 4.6

i have an 06 k&n intake on my 07 and it fits pretty good. the angle of the tb is a little different but because the rubber coupler that comes with the kit is long enough i made it work. its hard to explain but i could take a pic if you want.

I don't have an aftermarket intake.......YET((just for you wxmcpo...lol)) but as for exhaust I LOVE my Flowmaster 40 series. Mine aren't loud in the cab at all and have a good sound at idle and WOT. I've heard that Flows don't perform as good as Magnaflows but I'm happy with my Flows.

If you're wanting performance go with Magnaflows but if you're wanting a little bit louder exhaust go with Flows. JMO

From what i have read, the 07 intake is already tuned perfectly for the truck. So on my wifes 4.6 all i did was open the intake snorkel where it goes into the fender well. It gave it a lot more kick in the butt feeling. All I did was take the snorkel off and replace it with a 4" piece of 3" pvc pipe. Of course you need to grind the end down some in order to fit into the fender opening the connect it to the filter housing with a 3 to 3 rubber adaptor. This is the gotts mod, I know he says you cant do it on 04 and up but i have not noticed a problem one. I did the same thing on my 5.4 and with duals I am avg 19 mpg in mixed driving thru Jacksonville.
