Default How ugly is this??

Decided to change out my gear lube since my truck is approaching 95k and wanted to get this out of the way before i tackled a few more $$$ maintenance things. I dont know how the wear on these things are supposed to look but i can see a few problem areas where there are some score markes. How does it look??
Truck is at about 92k and i have owned it since 72k:

Hard to see on here.......

But it looks good to me, the part that is not shiny is wear the gear rides... where yours' is dull is where you want it to be dull...

Here is a PDF from dana that explains wear pattern.

Why does it look like there are marks on the carrier ? Looks like the pinion gear has rubbed it .

as long as there were no metal filings in the oil I would say that you're fine

Pinion is flat on the end, at least every pinion I've ever seen is..

I would guess that is more of a reflection from the picture or deflection of oil from the ring gear.

Yea same here , I have installed 100's (literally) of gear sets and have only seen marks like those (if indeed they are rubbed into the carrier and not just deflection or a reflection) on major failures . It just looks weird to me .

It's looks fine. I don't see anything to be concerned about.
