Default How much mud is to much

Ok, a newbie question from a 4X4 owner. I have the 2007 F150 XLT 4X4, stock tires.
Not yet taken it through to much mud, but a need is coming. I have a few acres with a pond. I prefer to drive to the pond, however there is a small creek, which Im sure I can easily get through, its the boggy mud on the other side. How can I tell if its to muddy and wet to ger through?

Is there some rule of thumb to determine how much mud is to much?

Truth. The moment you lift your foot, you'll be stuck. Keep on it. Also as others have said, bring friends.

Not as bad as I thought. Getting across the creek was a breeze, peeble rock bottom and only about a foot deep. Once across it, It hit the mush. Standing in it, I sank about 8 inches in the mud. Walked it one more time before I drove. Once passed the 300 yards of mush, your hit a slope with probably a 40 degree incline thats about 100 yards long.

Like a fool, I went at it alone, with a friend on call though. Went through it all like it was pavement, and of course I followed everyone's advise about pedal to the floor. As soon as I was in the creek, I got up to about 20 for dealiong with the marsh. Concerned over nothing.

I did have to use 4 Hi, I would have never made it in 2 lo.

If a tractor can't pull you out, it might be too much mud. When in doubt, gas it!
