I agree with mSALL that you are doing more harm than good energizing the lights at unlock and off and then back on. (you might not even see that during the day) Disable them at unlock. Get a quality kit with good ballasts. My concern is when I drive home at night, only 5 miles or so, is that too short of a time for the hid's to cycle (cold to hot)

I disabled my headlights from coming on when I lock/unlock my doors and I keep it out of the auto mode. So my lights only strike when I put them to the on position. I agree, that having them light up when you unlock/lock your truck is bad for them. I have been really happy so far with mine, although I do keep the factory bulbs in the glove box just in case. I think you should be fine with a 5 mile drive as even cheap ballasts warm up in 30 seconds or so. Basically, I don’t drive around with my lights on during the day, I only have them on when I need them.

How do you disable your headlights? I looked in my manual last night but couldn't find it.

Iv also looked through my book for ways to dissable the headlights coming on when using the keyfob. Any info would be great.

hey know there are some intelligent people here so ill ask.... weird thing but true i have 55w hids in my truck and have never had an issue until probably the last 3 months but heres the issue when using my turn signal primarily when turning left when you finish the turn it kick off you signal and when it does my headlights shut off and come back on instantly????? advice comments???
