Default HID issue

Hey guys,

Problem is, whenever I unlock the truck at night and the headlights illuminate, both HID's come on, but the driver's side flickers momentarily and then shut off, until I start the truck.

Any ideas how to solve this?

Thanks in advance.

There is a mod to fix this. I will try and find it.

Ok, so one of the fixes is to eliminate the exterior illumination feature that kicks the HID's on. I was just getting ready to do this so mine don't turn on and off so much. It is located on pg152-153 of the owners manual. If you don't have it and want to do that let me know and I will post it up.

I think there is another option but I will keep looking.

well, the issue is that there is not enough power to power the ballasts when the car is initially unlocked, until the car is started. the fix is a relay that wires the ballasts to the battery and uses the factory harness as a trigger. they are pretty cheap and all over the place, so im going to do that.

the new problem i just noticed, though, is that now my high beam indicator on the dash is always illuminated. any ideas on this one?

I have the relay and it still does it. Are they Bi-Xenon?

its not illuminated. check between when you have the fog lights on and when u have ur high beams on. mine looks like its slightly on but u can see a real difference when the high beams are on. also i have no problems with my HID's and them flickering at night. i have the relay harness for the headlights and i have the straight hookups for the fog lights.

It is because the high beam and fog lights are connected via the circuit to turn the fogs off with the highs.

I am gonna do the Bambi mod today and see if that fixes it.
