1. I need a new throttle body
2. Gas pedal assembly needs to be replaced due to not sending a good signal

Hey im glad you found out the problem! Well same issue with me too. I had a rough idle and it would die at stops etc. ( i had suspected that was your issue as well as i was thinking about it last night) I got the check engine light and got two codes It was something to do with the tps and gas pedal sensor not being in sync with each other. I would also get the "engine fail safe mode" I will be getting my throttle body tomorrow even thursday btw the OEM ford throttle body can be found on ebay for 193.00 with free shipping. If you can find it cheaper thats great i couldn't find any although i've heard that a few years ago they had found them for about 115$ shipped.

Thats what happened with me. I got my throttle body cleaned, mind you not with "throttle body cleaner" and instead with brake cleaner. I think thats what ruined my throttle body. Either way I just ordered a new one as posted above.

Anybody else see the throttle body failing prematurely on these trucks? Mine only has 58,XXX miles and its sad to know they don't last too long..

My truck has 131k miles, so I can see certain issues popping up. At least I'm getting them fixed now before they cost me more later on.

Welcome to the club man!

Just found out the dealership is currently working on my truck so, hopefully it's ready later this afternoon. Total damage quoted to replace my throttle body and gas pedal assembly plus the transmission flush totaled to $1125.

Why did they have to replace the pedal? Dealerships have a set list of things to follow to fix a problem. So ask tons of questions on what led them to the pedal then to the throttle body. If they replaced the pedal and it still wouldn't run right ask them why your being charged for something that didn't fix the problem. And tell them you refuse to pay for the pedal assembly.

Something about a sensor or something from the gas pedal assembly not sending a signal to the throttle body. I think that's what I got out of it. I hate being mechanically dumb...lol.

Ask for the old part. Get a volt meter and check the resistance when you move the pedal. If it doesn't change then yes it was bad if it does then they gave you a bs story and charged you more.
