Default help me with a decision

ok guys i got a small dillema. What would you guys do in my situation i guess is my question? I have a friend with a 2008 f150 xlt 4x4 with 27000 miles. I am able to buy this truck for 22500. He is just asking payoff for the truck. I am currently driving a ranger with about 200k miles. It's questionable whether it will make it to the end of the year. (Timing belt will prolly need changing and truck dies when pulling up at stop lights and doesnt like to idle.) At the end of the year i will have all my debt except for my house paid for and will have about a 10k dollar down payment for a new f150. Currently i can pay all my debt off except for a small 2k dollar student loan and still pay 6 grand down on the 2008 f150 and have a payment of around 300 for it. I will still have a couple grand in the bank in case anything happens. What would you do?

Not sure what your buddies truck is worth, no idea. But I personally will never buy brand new again. You loose too much money. Be patient in looking for what you want and do a lot of shopping. Less debt is always better. If you can hold out and pay the other stuff off first.

Find a nice truck that you can pay cash for and stay debt free. I would get rid of the money pit Ranger.

Id buy it. That truck probably books for around 28-30k. I just piad 20k for my 07 XLT with 44k and that was a good deal. You will always be in debt one way or another, its the American way.

I wouldn't suggest it.

If I was looking for an F150 today it would be '09 or newer. Plus I would never pay that much for a used XLT.

Change the timing belt on your Ranger and find the vacuum leak. Do you haves kids that need a nice rear seat? Or a huge bed to throw stuff in (that the Ranger can't handle)?

If not I'd hold off.........pay off all your debt and rock that Ranger.

I agree, keep the debt down and keep looking around. You'll find a truck to fit your needs, Keep pushing the ranger until it absolutely clunks out on you

X2..........You need to ask what do I need this truck for? Dad used to say, "they make them every day (cars and trucks), don't jump at the first one". There will be others.

Well basically I go back and forth to work which is about 50 miles round trip. And I pull a boat is all. I been rocking the ranger for about 4 years working on getting my student loans paid off. Now they are almost taken care of. Guess im gonna keep rocking the ranger until its all gone or the wheels fall off of it .
