Default Help?

Hoping to get a little bit more information or help with this monstrosity. I bought an 05 5.4 4x4 back in June from a guy, engine and transmission replaced within 10k of each other, engine has around 70k now and trans around 80k. Well immediately noticed issues.
1. shifting from 0-1 or 1-2 has a major hesitation
2. Leaks from exhaust, oil, trans, and both diffs

took it into a guy, he fixed the leaks in the diffs as well as a leak in the coolant line (luckily not in the engine just coming from the tank)

Now it drives fine but noticed a really loud whining/chattering sound from under the hood… possibly serpentine belt?

on top of this, there is a belt sound coming from the passenger side that no one believes me when I say I hear it.. just sounds like a belt is squeaking like not great sound.

overall lots of issues but where do I even start. I’ve already spent nearly 12k between buying it, doing the few repairs, and some interior work.

TIA

it’s helpful ( to others) if you close out threads with solution/resolution. Maybe you could do that with previous/existing thread?

Kand149, the exhaust leak could be a cracked exhaust manifold or broken exhaust manifold bolts. The belt squeaking sound could be from one of the idler pulleys or the serpentine belt itself. I would remove the serpentine belt & run the engine & see if the noise goes away.

What you think is belt squeal might be the blower motor?
Your phasers are knocking on the rebuilt motor? Non Ford phasers used?
Post a video with the sound
Whining, chattering, belt sound could be just about anything
The question I see is possibly serpentine belt?
So, the answer is yes
End of story and you still got the knock
A mechanics stethoscope is your friend
A chassis ear helps at times (look it up)

will the engine even run without the serpentine belt? Thought it had to be connected to run w the alternator?

as far as I am aware, there has never been a change in the engine parts except for the spark plugs were replaced early on. It was never rebuilt, it was completely replaced with a new motor, I’m praying it’s not the phasers or anything really internal..

to be fair… new motor, new trans, 6inch lift w massive tires… cost me 8k up front, but the maintenance I’ve put into it has been around 4k mainly from labor costs.

I would have ran away from this deal over lift and tires alone.

what company sold the engine and what is the warranty coverage?

same question for transmission?

what did $4k in maintenance include?
