Help?
I don’t know about the engine, and the transmission was done at a transmission shop and is still under warranty for another year. The 4k was resealing the front and rear differential, installing motor mounts, oil change, coolant leak repair, some electrical work (they had wires all over the place from aftermarket stuff I removed)… that all together cost right between that 3k and 4k unfortunately
Well first, previous owner had told me about it, and after taking it to a shop to get an overall inspection they said both transmission and engine looks relatively new. Engine looks super dirty but was WAY newer than the 215k on the truck.
did the overall inspection not catch the items that you’re dealing with (the ones you spent $4k on plus the ones you’re still chasing down) ?
I do have a plan to get it checked out again overall by a better shop mechanic but just haven’t had the chance to find a better one who will check the engine and transmission without charging an arm and a leg.
the overall was basically a visual glance… they caught the leaks, and some suspension issues but said nothing was wrong with the engine or transmission.. I have not gone back to that shop since they quoted me a little over 2k to replace the motor mounts saying it would take them 12 hours..

I know you’ve sunk a ton of money into this truck, but be careful and don’t let it suck a bunch more $ out if you. You can’t get your $12k back, but you can prevent it from turning into 16 or 20.
