Default Help,,,

I have an 04 F-150, 5.4, it starts and runs fine, but once it warms up, (after about 10 miles) it won't idle, it just wants to die. It will restart,

Assuming you have a check engine light that is on, you should take it in to get the codes.

Doesn't the VTC solenoid cause low-RPM issues when clogged?

Maybe the Idle Air Control valve? Seems like that would throw a code though.

To see if it's the vvt system, unplug the vvt solenoids at the top of the valve covers toward the front of the engine on both sides. If this allows it to idle hot, you have a cam phaser or chain tensioner issue.

There is no IAC. Theses have been drive by wire for a while and the ecm controls idle through the electronic throttle
