I assume when you say turned it way down you mean turning the heat up? Is this an auto system?

I am experiencing the same thing, along with a few other quirks:
-mine did this a few months ago for a couple weeks then seemed to work fine.
-about 2 weeks ago it would only blow out the vents no matter what output was selected. After about 3 days it went back to being able to select where the heat comes out.
-now it is back to doing just as you described and the OAT readout is about 20 degrees warmer than it should be.

I am leaning toward to controler because of the variety of issues, but not ruling out the OAT sensor. Does anyone have any info on what the OAT sensor should be reading? I am also going to pull out the controller and make sure it is making good connection and has no corrosion on the connection.

Do a search. There's a "blend door" issue on these, although it usually prevents the air direction from changing from floor to vent to defrost.

Lets hope it's not your controller (auto temp models), as they are expensive.

So you took the panel off to access the stereo. The panel that has the heater control electric connectors. hmmm almost sounds like something got reversed. I would take that panel back off and check my connections.

Default I had the same issue recently...

I had the same thing with my 2008 F150 and it turned out to be the control that senses the cool and warm conditions in the dash that was at fault. Hot was luke warm and if I turned it to cool it was luke warm. It is easy to change as my mechanic explained and it is pretty much plug and play once you have the console open. Unplug the old one and install the new. I hope that helps you. Jack

Don't forget to check the coolant level too.

It was the control itself that you use to set the temp. Left for cold and right for hot (or warm in your case). It is plug and play so pull the connector off the back snap the new one in and way you go. My truck was still under warranty so I don't know costs but once it was changed it all worked again. The dealer said he had come across these a few times before. I sure hope this helps you. Jack
