I don't believe so, I was under the impression that it will remove wax, but won't affect clear coat. But I don't know for sure. Hell, I washed my first few trucks with only Dish soap before I knew better.

I could be wrong. I just know that it acts as an abrasive and can strip grease. At the very least I would think it'd dull your paint.

Goof off works. I would be weary of using harsh chemicals on the paint myself. Dawn is not an abrasive, it's a solvent and in some cases a surfactant. What does BP and Exxon use when they spill oil and pollute the ocean to remove crude oil from wildlife.....Dawn.

It will dissolve the oils in your paint however and if left untreated afterward, could dry it out and cause it to crack or fade (although you'd probably have to use a bunch, all the time, never dry, hardly rinse, and park in the sun).

You can go to the dollar store and get a product called AWSOME. It's a citrus based concentrate made to be diluted and used as a household cleaner. I'd think this would be safer than other chemicals. The military used to use trichloroethylene (TCE) to clean and degrease their equipment, then they discovered citric acid worked better, smelled good, and did not contaminate the ground water supply like TCE did.

I've used citrus based cleaners and they are not as harsh. Actually the product I use on my interior....dash, panels, seats, and even clean my carpet is citrus based. I use it to shine my tires as well. 1 product does all that. Oh, and I got up an oil stain in the cement of my garage floor as well with it.
I've heard of Peanut Butter working before.

I am very particular about what goes on my paint. If it were me, I'd wait until dusk, soak the vehicle down, mix a bunch of some good car wash thats a concentrate not a wash and wax, pour it on the vehicle, let it soak in, rinse, then use a micro fiber with a scrubber and wash over it.

I'm not saying it'll get it all off but, it'll definitely get some of it. Just me.....I'm not gonna put anything that I'm unsure of the outcome on my paint, I'm also not afraid of using some elbow grease!!!

Good luck man and if you discover the miracle fix, please pass it on to the rest of us!!

I sometimes haunt the Autogeek forums - they're a collective of auto detail fanatics (in a good way)... and have lots of experience with various products. Here's a discussion about Liquid Glass: https://www.autogeekonline.net/forum...sh-finish.html

And they had some opinions about Dawn: https://www.autogeekonline.net/forum...e-claying.html

I'm not an advocate of using anything other than products made specifically for paint application when it comes to my truck. Detailing has always been a hobby.....more like therapy to me. So, I always err on the side of caution with any products, new stuff.....try on the wifes car first!!!! I use 4 chamois and a microfiber towel to dry.

Here's one for yall incase you never heard of it. For my wash bucket, I took a shorter bucket and drilled lots of holes in the bottom of it and it inserts into my wash bucket. This way, all (most) of the dirt sinks to the bottom of the bucket and my wash mit is sitting in the clean water instead of dirt.

Just sharing, off topic, yes. Sorry!

Still say try citrus.....concentrated is awsome. The product I use cleans your interior while making it shine, not greasy. Cleans the tires while shining and can be reapplied days later and cleans off any dirt in the process. Use it on the motor, carpet, leather, clear plastics, ect. All due to an orange!!

DENATURED ALCOHOL!

It's like magic, just use a lot of paper towels, one to apply the denatured alcohol and another to wipe it off (it basically dilutes it). Available at Home Depot, Lowes, paint area.

My XJ Cherokee hood was covered with hard pine sap (over a few years), this removed it easily. It's the ONLY ONLY ONLY thing I have found to do the trick. And I took down 14 annoying pines a couple years ago around my parking area.
