grille question
hey guys,
has anyone here installed an "imposter" grille? I've got the black plastic H-bar grill that comes standard on the xl, but I want to dress up the front a little by adding a chrome grille. This seems like the cheapest/easiest way to do it, but I don't want it to look like crap! Should I get one, or go with a whole new grille assembly. The first link is the imposter grill, the second is a new chrome grille, and the pic is my truck as it is now. Thanks in advance!

Hey man,
Personally I would go with either the Roush grille which are complete replacements and you can find them here as well as usually on Ebay.
http://store.roushperformance.com/se...&frominterim=1
Or I would get the FX2 replacement grille which is very popular and well priced which you can get on ebay or from tasca parts direct and can be found here;
http://www.tascafordparts.com//index.do
The part number for this grille is 7L3Z8200CPTM.
Both of these are right around $200 and are quality pieces and look good on our trucks. The FX2 comes unpainted with the surround piece and alot of peeps choose to paint the surround PTM and paint the actual grille black. If you're looking for the chrome look, then the Roush is an excellent product to go with. I hope that this helps.
I just looked at the links for the grilles you posted, I would personally def not go with the first one just b/c it does not seem to be all that high of quality and "snaps" on with adhesive tape?? I would spend a lil more and know that I got the quality. The second one looks good, just remember that that is a pretty big piece of chrome and make sure that it will go with the overall look that you're trying to achieve w/your truck. I see that the piece is sold by Tasca so I would suggest to actually look on their website b/c for some reason they actually charge more for the pieces when they sell them on ebay then when they sell them directly from their site, but either way, I have heard nothing but good things from those who have purchased from Tasca.
Let us know what you eventually choose and don't forget to post up some pics.
