I think your seeing CAIs leaning out trucks, I haven't seen the Gott's Mod do it.

Gator is correct.

A/M intakes usually only affect 5.4L, 3V engines anyway.

from my research on here the GOTTS mod looks like all I have to do is pull off the intake and the piece that is in the fender. Then put a piece of PVC pipe in that hole. Is this correct? I am honestly considering it if its that simple. Also what is the diameter of the PVC? I also could just sand down the piece of pipe so that it is a tight squeeze correct?

What will the mod do for my truck? More power? Higher MPG? Just curious, not really one for tinkering with things that could harm my motor.

You will see a little more hp at higher RPMs and more throttle response.

Here's a link to the mod with pictures:

2006 4.6 scab/ Gotts Mod works great, Shotgun summed it up perfectly.

Use the 3" pvc sewer/drain pipe. It is thin enough that it's flexible, and it fits into the fender without any need for sanding. A section of that and a 3" flexible pvc coupler is all you need. Took me about 20 minutes to do it. I've got a K&N drop-in filter also. You do feel a little more power at higher rpms. It dropped my idle speed a little. I didn't see a real big gain in mpg around town, but I've picked up about 2 mpg on the highway. Been running this setup for about a year now. I like it.

Tex - are you talking about 3" sched 40 PVC? I've got some sticks in my office and it doesn't seem flexible at all, but it is the right price... Walls are about 1/4", how much sanding or turning will I have to do to get it to fit?
