Default got an engine problem

my belt is squeelin. i know its normal to do it when i first start it up in the morning, but it just continues. its not loud or annoying, but it IS loud enough to get be noticed when im driving. im not sure whether it just needs to be tightened or there's somethin wrong with the bearings or somethin. anyone had this problem or got any ideas?

it doesnt need to be tightened. The tensioner is an auto tensioner. Have you replaced the belt? Replace it, if you still have problems, its the idler pulley(s) or tensioner pulley. What kind of condition is the belt it? Do you have black powder on the front of thee timing cover? If so, that is inherent in a failing tensioner, but at this point in its service life, I would say that is somewhat unlikely.

well what we did was sprayed all the pulleys and bearings down wit WD-40 till the squeekin stopped. it seemed like it was just the idle pulley, cause we covered that pretty good and it stopped. so im hoping just some mud or sand got in there from when i went mudding, so im hopin its nothin to pocket-busting later down the road

where'd u get it at? it take some time to install? what it looks like u do is just loosen the belt, slap that sucker on, then tighten it back up again. so far, ive just doused it wit WD40 and lettin it sit awhile to see if it just needs to soak in.

dont use WD40, its not designed for such harsh service exposure. A Ford factory pulley(s) may run a few dollars more, just call the parts dept at your local dealership....Also, you havent said if the belt is in good shape or not. I like to change a belt every 3-4 years as a preventative measure.

Any belt squeal is not normal. I would install a new belt and clean the pullies with some good brake clean. If it still squeals the tensioner might be going and not holding the belt tight enough.

oh, the belt's in good shape. i got the truck a year ago as a graduation gift and the dealership had pretty much replaced everything under the hood to a certain degree. so i dont believe the belt is the problem. i actually just bought some brake cleaner cause those metal disc squeels are irritating and it seemed to have helped. ill give the brake cleaner a try and see how that works.
