Question FX2 Decal Question

I just bought a Black 2007 FX2. I want to remove the FX2 decals from the bed but I'm afraid that being a 10 y/o truck the paint will have faded enough that it will be noticeably different underneath. I've removed decals and badges from most of my other cars over the years, but not from one more than a few years old. How bad do you think it will be? I don't have a lot of experience with ford paint quality, as I've only recently come over to the dark side. Any thoughts?

It will probably be noticable, but if you wax the truck well it will probably blend in. It all depends on what the rest of the bedside looks like now.

That's kind of what I was thinking, especially being black. It's a low mile truck, but it's never seen a garage.

MY 07 FX2 that is red and has been garaged the last 3 years had a slight outline/fade. But now about 2 years later, you cant notice it at all, even if you look for it. Worse case is you see a bright spot and order new decals. They are under $30 for a pair all over ebay.

Yes. Black on black in an Arkansas summer is kind of a bitch though.

And I suspect that may be a bit of an understatement ! As far as the decal removal, I think you'll get away with it fine. If it looks a little newer under the decal, just wax the rest of the truck as suggested, or do like lazy me when I pulled mine off my brown '13. I just waxed the area around it and then tapered off as I got further away. I'll do the whole thing, eventually..... It was slightly noticeable for a week or two but disappeared with subsequent soilings and washings.

^^^^You know what, thats an excellent idea. I just recently used Meguiars Ultimate compound after clay bar, then used Collonite 845 and I have no sign of outline or faded areas......interesting.
