Fuse Problem I think
2007 F150 : I had a post here about problems with my cigar lighter and power accessory always being hot;. I cannot find that message now. Anyway, I can say a few things . 1) the ignition will not work now, cannot roll windows so down, no fan motor running, no power to the sockets mentioned. 2) putting jumper cables on does nothing. I checked fuses for most of the circuits involved and so far all show they are good.
All I had done was disconnect the cigar lighter and the fan motor switch trying to find a switched hot wire. I did have power to both. I put a current tester on two wires going to the fan motor switch, but all I ended up doing was bypassing the switch and the fan would run. So I taped those two wires back up. I went to check things again and noticed the power problem.
Ignition is affected, the circuits to those power accessories is affected, the open door alarms does not work, the windows do not operate. but I can detect no bad fuse so far, Are there any other fuses or circuit protectors other than the fuse panel on the passenger side , under the glove box behind the panel? I did not notice any indication of a short.
I have work to do on my CR-V also, and is gets too hot to sit in the sun checking fuses. Also, when looking at the fuse box and comparing it to the manual it looks like some fuses are not there, but I noticed nothing out of order before.
Any clues would be good.

You can take the terminals off the battery altogether remove the battery, and hook the jumper cables directly to the battery terminals to test and see if things are acting normally that way. If so I think that confirms that your battery is junk.
I had the battery checked recently and it showed up real good, still things happen!
The two power points alway have power, I am trying to find a switched circuit for them-- I forget know and then to unplug my phone charge, GPS unit, and a camera I had, all powered from one three way port. I could put a inline on/off switch in the charger cord, but if I forget to unplug the charger I will forget to turn it off.
Now I need to get the power back to normal before I can continue my quest.

When my battery went bad I drove it home one day and all was well. Next morning my headlights would flash on and off with the key turned on and I hooked jumper cables to it and lost all power. It causes weird symptoms.
I tried that suggestion to remove cables from the batteries and jump to them; not sure I am happy or sad because nothing happened. No starter noise or anything. I guess I am glad it does not seem to be the battery but sad it wasn't!
I was only working with the wires on the back of the fan blower motor; I scraped off a little insulation on two wires going into the fan control seeking to find a switched hot wire. All I succeeded in doing was to basically bypass the switch because when I did put a tester on the two wires with ignition on it started running the blower motor. And I did use that 12v circuit tester on the cigar lighter plug to check it and did test from the front once, one lead in the back of the lighter, the other on the front. I touched orr looked at no other circuits.
Now I think what does work are the headlights, horn, dome light and remote door locks. No radio fan blower, cigar lighter , other power point, no starting up. I hate to have to go through the fuses one by one--too hot for that, I'm a bit too old for that work, even though it is more time consuming than difficult.
I am hoping nothing shorted out with a computer module or whatever may be in the truck ,I did not notice-- see sparks or hear anything-- that indicated a short circuit, although it is possible.
I hate to go buy a new battery just to find it is something else. The suggestion mentioned earlier to take the cable off the battery and put jumper cables on the cable ends to jump from another battery did not change anything. Nothing more worked than before.
Does anyone know if there are other in line circuit protectors other than the fuses in the fuse box? Wondering how one circuit I was working on ( the one to the cigar lighter) could cause the ignition circuit too go bad.

I am having trouble still. I have looked at several fuses with no bad ones found. I wish there was an easier way to get to them! I ran across information that may help. Checking fusible links was an idea, but I am not sure where they are on my 07 F150.
Standing on the right side of the engine compartment looking at the battery the positive terminal is one the right hand side, towards the front of the truck, There is a connection with two wires. One goes behind the battery and next to the frame. The other wire goes I suppose to the alternator, hard to see where anything goes. There is a covering over this second wire which can slide back and forth, once tape is removed. Is that the fusible link I am looking for? Three such links are mentioned and said to be next to each other, I only see one wire where I refer.

It may very well be a battery and/or alternator problem, But they were both checked recently, not bench tested. The battery was just a wee bit low. It engine was running fine , starting okay since then until this popped up. That is why I thought a fuse or circuit protector of some sort. I did put a charger on this morning, still on 8 hours later and there last time I tried it will not start, no sounds at all.
I know battery and charging systems are not what they used to , but if I have this problem with a bad battery why would jumping it from a another vehicle work? I even took the cables off and jumped to the cables, bypassing the battery. I hate to spend money I really do not have a battery/alternator to find it is something else. I have checked several fuses, it is a tours task and zi can only check to or three at a time.
Now if I need to get it to a garage- I cannot drive it. Could be worse.

When I had the dead cell and hooked cables to it the problems still existed but got worse. I never tried it without a battery so I can't speak to that. I'm interested to see what's causing your issue. Please let us know when you get it figured out.
