I've rocked the hell out it... And, Nothin!

No luck turning the spindle nut ,with the locknut loose. I need a better grip than just a socket. Too small, I'll break the socket, before it turns.

Gotta get on the highway for an hour each way the rest of the week. Noo.. I'm not concerned.

So its really tight?? Or its hard to get at the nut? Better grip then a socket?? Do you need a crows foot to reach in there?
I'm not really picking up what your putting down here...

Jack truck up, put a stand under one side snug to frame let down on stand just enough for that side to have weight on satnd so whole truck doesnt rock then use a prybar under the other side, under tire, pull up and down to simulate a road bump, about the best way to simulate driving down the road i no of. You don't have to have it high off the ground at all and could use a 2x4 somethinglong for leverage to lift tire.

It's only like a 5mm socket, so trying to turn that with such a little socket, ain't happening. Plus it's either already as tight as its going to get, or its corroded just enough that I need more torque on it.
I got the locknut loose, no problem.

The threads or the nut may be damaged from all the banging and clunking. Try loosening it before tightening it... If you can't move that nut in either direction, then the struts should come out for replacement....

I used a 3/8 adapter with a 1ft extension and my 1ft long ratchet. I had it to the point of breaking the socket in both directions and it wouldn't budge..
I remember my first car I could turn that spindle easily once the locknut was loose. So I don't know what's up.
This would be b.s. if I need new struts after 5 months.

I agree, 5 months out of a set of struts is bull.

If you can not turn the nut at all in either direction, then the strut should come out, at least for observation... I'm getting the impression that the threads on the piston are stripped or damaged, preventing you from tightening the nut..... You may get a free replacement set since they went so soon..

Well, finally had a day off to work on her. Seeing as it was christmas, and not knowing for sure if they were the problem-I put my old struts back in temporarily(glad I kept them). Sure enough the noise is gone and strangely- my front end is 3/4 of inch higher.
So, those 6-7 month old Monroe's are no good, and no way am I putting the same thing back in.
Thanks to those who helped me with this.
Especial.. I'll start that tab!
