Question Factory Remote Start..HELP!

guy i work with wanted me to ask around on this website for him. He is having problems with his factory remote start, he pushes the button for it to start, it beeps once like they normally do & then all the lights, radio everything comes on & beeps again, but the truck does not actually start. He's not sure if his key fob needs to be reprogrammed or something, anyone have any ideas on what the problem could be??

I guess the simplest thing to try first is to try and change the battery first. Can't be too much to get a new one. Never messed with auto starts too much, so not an expert.

well he said it was working fine before and then all of a sudden it just stopped and both of his starter key fobs do the same thing, it doesn't seem to be a battery problem.

Is there a factory hood switch or brake switch that could be faulty causing it to not work? My aftermarket RS has both a hood switch and brake switch that when engaged will prevent the remote start from engaging. Not sure about the factory ones though.

See if it will start up with his key in the ignition cylinder. Not turned on, just in there.

might be something with the bypass module that was used.

Also, what kind of vehicle is it?

Has he done work to it lately? It almost sounds like it is in valet mode. Depending on the remote he has...may be a button(usually red) under the dash(normal spot).

Usually it is just a matter of pushing and holding the button while you start the truck. or he may have to push a series of buttons on the remote(depending on the remote).

Usually if you have this scenario it will chirp 2-3 times(lights flash) to alert there is a problem.

Is it an alarm too? Mine did the same thing... and as stated above it was in valet mode. If there is a light by the column(not the one on top of the dash) and it blinks the whole time the truck is running,It's in valet mode. Does the remote have a 1 & 2 on it? If it does see page 5 in these instructions--Valet/service mode mode-Hope this helps... http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j...qTPoCA&cad=rja
