F150 screeching
We had a storm roll in just as i got home to start working on this again. I will wait for a break in the storm and pull the alternator off and take it to autozone. Maybe with it on their tester and getting it up to speed it will turn out to be the culprit.
So the alternator went into the tester 3 times and each time it passed and didn't make a peep.
I got home and pulled the belt tensioner off and the pulley, the pulley seemed pretty worn so I replaced it but cant test it until I get everything back together. That could possibly be the squealing.
How would I go about checking the U-joints?
Do you all think I should put it back together and test it or continue with pulling the oil pan to check for guide pieces? im not far from getting it off just need to lower the axle and pull the bolts.

First, with your foot on the brakes and the truck running, shift into drive, then reverse, back and forth a few times, and listen for a clunk. then, (after you put the truck into park and shut it off) get under the truck and try to wiggle the driveshaft around on the u joint end.
I have the oil pan unbolted. i need an extra inch of clearance from the front axle. Any ideas? i unbolted the passenger side bushing and pried it down as much as i felt safe but still need an inch.
I have the oil pan back on and most of it buttoned up, I have a few things I need to put back on and I will when I get home. I got a new tensioner pulley and will test that out when it is all back together.
Once the oil pan was dropped there was absolutely nothing in the oil pan, I looked at the chains from what I can see they seem tight and in good order. PITA but im glad I did it for peace of mind.
I will check the air box and see if anything looks weird. The slight whistling noise started not long before I put a new filter on, perhaps that may have something to do with it.
