Beats me, I'm just at my first oil change for my "new" used '06 with a 4.6L. I'm still pissed about the Bit#% who wrecked my '92 F150 that I planned to drive until I died. (she nearly did that to me too, in the head-on wreck). All I know is the 4.6 has been around a little longer.

The 5.4 tends to make this awesome tapping noise!

IMO the 5.4 is weak. I had a 05 Tundra with a 4.6 and it had alot more power than my 5.4. Might be my gears, i am still running 3.73 or something like that.

The body of a 4.6L is the same as a 5.4L, but a 5.4L have a higher towing capability because of it's torque. And you can add more if you have a towing package.

The 5.4 is the ****!! or as I call it the "Big Boy Triton" and the 4.6 is the "Baby Triton". As he said the 5.4 does make this awesome tap noise!!! IMO a 4.6 truck is a underpowered truck. And your tundra may have had more power but a ford is built better. Im serious go to http://www.thetruthabouttrucks.com and click on 2010 F150 and zoom down to the video on durability and you will see why I wont buy anything other than ford especially a Tundra.
