Default Engine Swaps

I just bought a 2005 F150 XLT 4x4.. The 5.4 needs a lot of work (304,000 k's) What other engines can go in there, would love a 351C just wondering what others have done

Thanks in advance

It's not an easy swap unless you go right back with the a 5.4 of the same model. There's a guy that is doing a V10 swap and having one hell of a time trying to get everything to play nice. Granted, he swapped the interior at the same time and that's currently what's giving him the most issues.

With enough money and fab work, you could probably put whatever you want in there. For all practical purposes though, the only thing that will fit is another 5.4 3V. You can’t swap a 4.6 or any other modular in without extensive pain and heartache to go along with it.

No company that I know of makes a Cummins swap kit for our 4R75 transmissions (at least, not the company Westin Champlin used for his 6.0 to Cummins 6BT F-350 swap), but there might be other companies. I'd always said, I'd love to have a Cummins in a Ford. If you did this, I wouldn't get a 4BT Cummins, those are really weak engines (like 150HP). The 5.0L Cummins that went into the Titan XD is a better choice I doubt the 6BT would fit in our generation trucks.

The Titan Cummins is junk. Not that you’d try to do the swap, but stay away.

Our Ford at work has a factory Cummins. 6BT

A Cummins 903 would tow the damn house over at idle but require a frame stretch to fit it.

Ah, I knew Ford had stopped offering a Cummins option in their commercial trucks, but I didn't know when exactly. (After 2012, I think)
