Default this might be of some help

hello, I don't know if this might help someone but want to put this here since I just worked on a 06 Ford F150 XLT 5.4L with a 139 wheelbase " Yes, this is how much time I have put into this vehicle". the issue I encountered was that it would run in park for hours but when put in Neutral or drive it would automatically die after 30 minutes and would not start right after, It would start after a few minutes of cooling down and run for a minute and shut off. use a noid light to check the voltage coming to the injectors and coils right after it dies and if no voltage is present then the crankshaft sensor is causing the issue. It took me 3 weeks to figure out what was happening it would not throw any codes for it and would not even show up as acting up when looking at the data in the scan tool. I replaced the PCM, The module next to the spare wheel and replaced the fuel pump, and lastly the fuel rail pressure sensor. believe me, that sensor is causing the issue you need to remove the three bolts from the a/c compressor and have good access to it don't need to fully remove the compressor just push it out of the way and remove the one 8mm bolt on it and will need a pry tool to get it out it will be stuck once you remove it some of them will be cracked and be causing the issue of turning on but shutting off after 30 mins of driving

yes, I went through same frustrating troubleshooting process, chasing same problem/solution. Seems totally crazy that there isn’t a dtc code for it.

(it is fairly easy to rule out a fuel delivery problem in this scenario, but pretty hard to pinpoint the crank sensor unless you’ve heard these scenarios before…)
