I removed my 3 followers from each side, Then my Timing gear At 6 O'clock Position, then after taking Most followers out i moved the Crank Position from 6 to about 8 O'clock bc i couldn't get a couple of the followers, then I removed my Camshafts. My Crack Position is Still at 8 O'clock... Did i mess up??? I watched all the videos and still don't understand if i messed up by moving the Crankshaft with the timing gear off, and im not certain when to put my New rollers in.. Do i put it to 11:00 then put timing gear on, and Then install followers?? Please help, i need my truck running
If you have ALL the roller followers out and/or BOTH the camshafts out you can turn the crank to your hearts content with no worries.
I would suggest when you are ready to put the roller followers all back to set the crank dot at 6 o clock , then set the rollers all into place carefully lining them up, then gently set the cams down in as close to the orientation they will need to be in when the chains go back on. Then put all the cma caps on and start tightening each just a turn at a time going back and forth from bolt to bolt along the length of the cam alternating until the cam are snugged back down.
Then you will just have small adjustments to do when the chain is installed.and nothing will be damaged.
Photos for reference. When the chains go on the dot doesn't have to be perfectly at 6' as long as the marks on the chains are in the correct position relative to each nother.
I have the valve compressor tool, but decided it was much easier to just do it as described above, and just tweak the crank a few degrees one way or the other while putting the chains on rather than mess with the compressor tool. YMMV.

If you have both cams out you can turn the crank anywhere. But when you are ready to reassemble cams put it at timing point -crank at six , cam lobes pointed like the ford book . Carefully place cams in position and slowly snug them down with rollers /lashs in position . The idea is to not stress cam so do it in sequence a little at a time eyes on rollers in position . All caps are to be put back exactly where they came out and orientation the same . I engraved mine before removing and set them aside in order .
The final torque is 89 inch pounds - thats around 8 foot pounds .
Now next you are going to put chains on ,its best to have help one guy puts chain on while the other guy runs the socket wrench on cam bolt it doesn't take much but you are fighting springs so its hard to do by yourself .
I Believe i did it right. After I put all new timing gear back on, i moved the crank to put other followers on. I put the new m360hv on also. I pray everything will turn out ok, definitely the biggest job I've ever done Still need to put everything back together and prime Pump. Thank you all for helping 🙏 I got royaly screwed buying this truck, but if this works out I believe I'll love it. 2500 labor wasn't in family budget, so i had to Man Up
I know in Pic it looks backwards, but this is after all followers and Lash adjusters were put in
