Default EGR help

I need a new EGR valve for my 2006 with V8 4.6. I have searched the country and can find an OEM part nowhere. ALL of the Ford dealers say the same thing, part is on back order and have no ETA. My truck seems to run fine but the check engine light is on (P401). I have read a number of posts that do not recommend using an aftermarket part for this. Is there any way to eliminate the valve or does any one have a thought on what I should do next? The truck runs like it always did, no miss or rough idle. What happens if I just keep driving it. The truck stays mostly on the farm and gets little use, but I still need it. Thanks

It's a 17 year old model. It's unlikely Ford is going to come up with replacement parts for it any time soon, if ever, if they are actually out of stock. What part number are you looking for?

The number is 5L3Z-9D475-A. I think I have found one after 3 days of looking. I have discovered there are a number of aftermarket replacements. Thanks for the response.

Just put an aftermarket one in til you can get the OEM.

It appears that there are no OEM parts anymore. Hope an aftermarket works as well as the original.

Since you're not having any other symptoms of a bad EGR valve, I'm suspicious that the sensor that's triggering this code could be faulty. I'd definitely test the EGR valve before replacing it. There are a number of internet videos that could be helpful in testing it.

His truck uses an integrated EGR module that is the valve and sensor in one unit.

Could also be a clogged EGR inlet to the intake or a vacuum supply issue. He really needs to do some diagnostic work to pinpoint the fault instead of assuming only one part could be the issue.

. Good point.

And I totally agree with testing to identify the problem before replacing parts.
