The AFE is one of the ones that leans it out pretty hard...but with the 06 its desgined to keep giving the truck as much timing as it can handle..so its not that big of a deal. Not suggested you run level 3 though. And the damage from running lean is on the inside. Your exhaust valve will be nice and white, your CATS will burn out earlier, etc. It will also be the difference on getting 150-200k out of the engine or 50-100.

You should really get the tunes. As I said above..just because the truck does not ping or throw a code it does not mean there is not trouble.

Not to jump in and take over a thread but last time I took my truck in for service they said it was running lean due to my K&N air intake. Anyone one of you guys suggest a cold air intake that DOES NOT cause this issue?

05, 5.4

Thanks

to run an intake and run optimal, you need it to be tuned for such....can't add more air and no fuel, it's just science

sin why is it not good to run level 3? ive been on level 3 for some time now! pluss in the custom tune section i upped the timing asmuch as the manual reccomended with the 93 octane! but i have heard the reccomended level is in level 2 which is tow/haul mode

PHP or troyer are about 125 bucks more than the edge, however it will yeild you the most ponies....but i understand the whole wife/gift thing, sometimes they feel bad if you wanna return it, you know what i mean..

I disagree, when adjusting the setting's on the Edge you are NOT creating a custom tune. You are adjusting the settings of a canned tune.

regardless you are still changing the settings of the canned tune, it a preloaded tune that you can change, but if you do mess with it and do it wrong, just set the edge back to stock and reinstall it
