Default Edge Programmer

I have a 2005 F-150 with the 5.4 in it, its not my daily driver I driver it mainly to pull my trailer to go four wheeling or around town or short trips on the highway. I just put some 305/55/20s on it and I'm thinking about doing a lift here soon. My question is the new edge evo programmer worth it? I don't have exhaust an intake or anything nor do I plan on it. Will having to run higher octane and the cost of the programmer will the gains be worth it and will I see enough difference to make it worth buying.

i wouldnt touch it with a ten foot poll. an xcal3 tuned by Starkie @ VMPtuning.com is going to be a much better tune and you dont need to use 93 octane.

The Edge was made for guys like you. I can say that YES it will do what you are looking for. I've had the Edge on my rig(05 F150 5.4) for almost 60,000miles and yes it was well worth the $. You do not have to run a higher octane. Actually 2 of the tunes on the Edge (tranny/towing) are made for 87. Only lvl3 has a 91octane requirement.

A custom burned tune, will outperform a canned tune setup, like the Edge. I personally have an edge and like it, however if i would have paid full price for it, i would have gotten a PHP custom tune

I've had the edge evolution for quite some time now and cant complaine about the canned tunning....that's why theres the custom programming portion of it ....so you can get away from the canned tuning. If you know what you're doing, you should be ok...I would say just be careful if you're start messing with the custom tunning portion. I've played with it and kept track of all the adjustments and weather it's been an improvement or detracted from the performance.

I'll run 91 when its below $3.00 on level 3 then drop down to 89 on level 2 then mess with the programing...I have to do that anyway cause I'm 315/70/17...far from the stock 28's with 3.73

the edge is ok with me. i got it for my truck because thats all i really know about programming. havent really read into all the custom and dyno tunes and whatnot, but the edge has worked great for me so far. i will probably get it converted to a gryphon soon since i have a K&N fip kit on it. for plug and play, go with edge, but if u REALLY wanna get technical, go with an xcal

still can't adjust it like you can with a laptop and a program. if you are near someone who does dyno tuning, and your setup is done, spend the money. i have rode in slighty modded trucks with a dyno tune and it's impressive to say the least IMO
