Edge Evolution Programmer
Okay fellas.. it's about that time for me. I'm looking into getting a programmer, but want to make sure I'm doing it right. I see a lot of people talking about upgrading their exhaust and intake.. but is that recommended? Also, what would I be looking to spend for the setup? My truck is lifted, I can feel a tad bit of a lag (not too bad), read a thread on here talking about how a tuner will fix the slight lag.
Thoughts? Suggestions?

Yes it will cure the lag. No, you don't HAVE to have a intake and exhaust (although a programmer/tuner is recommended BEFORE a tune) but having both will help the performance with a programmer. Most used Edge Evolution's go for between $200-$275. You will love your truck after you add a programmer, guaranteed.
Did you buy the Edge evo with the canned tunes? or do you have custom tunes on yours? Finally found one and just want to make sure the tunes provided in the edge will assist in my slight lag

I was happy with my Evolution after purchasing a few custom tunes. Hooking it up directly out of the box wasn't anything to write home about, but after having someone who knew what they were doing create some tunes for me, the 5.4 was really brought to life. Custom tunes, as you probably know, can be made to fit your situation exactly; if you have a dual exhaust, larger intake, and slightly larger tires, for example, there are tunes that will optimize that particular setup, from both a performance and a fuel economy standpoint.
You can find a basic Evolution for 200-300 bucks online. As for the tunes, I went through Power Hungry and believe I spent around 50 bucks per tune if I remember correctly.
