But is it like the car stereo? When you turn off the engine, it shuts off, but if you unplug the battery, all the presets and so on reset. Might be the same with the edge, but not sure.

here is just a side question about the edge. if the programmer is plugged in and you unhook the battery does that do anything to affect the edge unit?

I had my Edge up to level 2 I think when I installed my e-fans, during the process I unhooked my battery for a few hours. The only difference I could tell is that it gave me that warning like the first time you use it about them not being responsible if you screw up your truck changing things, yada yada. Then it showed me my HEX code and had forgotten my average mpg. No big deal, my gauges were still set to what I had them before, and my truck was still on level 2. This winter, when I start my truck when its really cold, sometimes the Edge won't show anything so I unplug it from the OBDII and plug it back in and everything comes up fine. I'm thinking that I might just need a bigger battery with more CCA, since the engine turns over kinda slow when it's -20°F out. Its probably something like the battery isn't giving the Edge enough juice to turn on properly while cranking my engine. I think an Optima redtop should fix that before next winter.
Yep - Edges and Gryphons can do really strange things when the battery voltage drops, especially on boot up. PHP jokes that it acts like a low battery monitor and they don't even charge for it.
You know, I tried that. I used to use regular, and it was heppening a lot, so I moved up to plus and it stopped, but is now doing it again. I guess it's time to move up to Premium.
