don't really have plans to go any bigger on tires, pretty happy w/ how she looks n handles, but ya know how that can change, ha ha... thinkin' i'm about 50/50 on the highway/city drivin'. noticed this mornin', since i did the gotts and exhaust, that when i give full throttle sounds like it fires in the exhaust a lil bit, mostly between lets say 35-50 mph when she's movin' like a slug... she lights up from 60 - 90 though... can't wait for that gryphon to come in... my ford mech buddy is gonna program in my tire size tonight n check any codes, maybe that'll help a lil in the mean time

^ you have tires that are just over 33s, 4.10s will work great with 33s and will still be decent with 35s.

I have 4.10s in my truck and run 33s in the summer, I lost about 1.5mpg highway and nothing in the city vs my 31s I had on it. The 33s were also 10ply vs 31s 6ply, so there was a large weight difference also.

still in the planning stage
What was the original tire size?

I really like this gear ratio calculator
http://www.rocky-road.com/calculator.html

If your original tires were 31s and you're running 33s now, going to 3.73 gears would be about stock. Going to 4.10s would give you the feel of 3.90 gears stock, so rpms will be a little higher on the highway, but acceleration is going to be quicker.

If you step up to 35s with 4.10s it will feel like 3.60s, so pretty much back to stock rpms and acceleration.

originals were 275/65r18's. these 305/65r18's are 10 ply, weigh about 95 lbs each on the wheels... gonna doublecheck my rear gear tonight and check out that calc, thanks

Ok, those are 32" tall tires, the 305s are 33.6" tall. For future reference

Gotcha. 4.10s will still fit the best. That calculator showed that going from 32s to 35s with 3.73s would need 4.08s to get back to stock.

Hey guys,

Just an update on mpg's..Here is an email from Mark Hayward at PowerTeq for Edge..

"The unit is able to read instant miles per gallon and bases its information off of that. The more you use the Mileage Coach the more accurate it gets. It is actually a pretty cool feature."

I've been keeping tabs with hand calcs, and it is actually pretty close! It reads typically 14.5-15.5 mpg highway and 13.5 to 14.2 mpg city, which is pretty close if you average it out to what I calculate. Which is about 1 - 1.5mpg city and highway better than I was doing without the Edge. And that is running 33" mud terrains..

So far so good!
