Default Edge evolution

I found an edge evolution for sale that was bought in 05, I hear that I can update it to work with my 08? Is that true? is there anything I should watch out for buying this used? he is asking $150 for it. not bad considering new ones are going for $350. Do you guys like this on your dash? or is it a theft magnet?

The edge Evo works from 2004-2008 on the 4.6 and 5.4

Make sure the previous owner tuned his truck back to stock before removing the programmer. Otherwise, you'd have to send the programmer to Edge to have it unlocked (and they charge for that).

It may be a theft magnet (like a GPS) if installed with the suction cup windshield mount. I have the dash pod and I don't worry about that. It looks more integrated/OE.

he set the truck back several years ago and sold the truck. Is 150 a good price on it? Thought I would offer him 100 and see if he takes it.

$150 I'd do just for the improvements/adj in the tranny. The power setting so far I'm not really liking much unless I use a heavier foot. To jumpy when taking it easy, and seems to take a few miles after startup at times till it runs smooth. I bought a new one off amazon, Trans only - I'm happy with what it. 87/89 tow - not a fan of so far. 91/93? tune havn't tried yet and don't see it happening anytime soon.

The question is, is it right for your truck? If you don't have: a CAI or any modifications to the cats of the exhaust, then yes it will be perfectly fine. It's a canned programmer and has its limitations, but for most it works well.

The only thing I have done to my truck is add a K&N air filter.. not a CAI. Other than that I just drive it, wash it, change oil, and put lots of gas in it.

Am I going to see Fuel savings as well with this unit? I think I can sell my wife on it if it will pay for itself over time at the pump.

^ You can sell it to her like that, but the reality is with the canned tunes there's only a slight chance mpg gains. Most run the canned level 2 which is a towing tune, which runs richer and gains aren't the best. To get the best gains with the canned settings you'd have to run 91+ octane. You'd have better luck with gains if you get it converted to a Gryphon. That way you can get a 87 tune that will do best for mileage and performance.
