I looked in the door jamb and there is a sticker With a code one of the letters stands for the gear ratio I'll look around an see if I can find it again. Also unless you really want more power. I personally would run stage 2 with some tweaking it's designed for towing which helps out on the low end and if you have 3.73 gears with a 33 in tire you are borderline on recommend tire size for that gear. A lot of people throw big tires on a truck and forget about gearing which hurt overall performance and efficiency just to look cool. Bottom line is it's your choice I don't plan in racing anyone in my truck so level 2 is good for me I can run regular unleaded and still get 14mpg on 35's

I'm not positive but I believe that the default ratio is 3.73 in the programer so that was probably the issue good luck

I think the ampg depends on your whole setup I did see a increase on my truck when I went to level 2 but I'm running 35's with 3.73 I really need to goto at least 4.10 from what I have read on the forum. The larger the tire the harder it is to turn especially from a stop. I do a lot of in town driving
So the increased power on the low end from the "tow mood" helped efficiency

so you think it would probably help me to go up to a 3.73 since i also do a lot of city/short highway driving

My shortish-term experience with mine:

Level 1 "Transmission Only"
I never really noticed any difference from stock. Shift and TCL points seemed the same.

Level 2 "Towing"
I noticed a little more power down-low with seemingly better throttle response. Shifts and TCL seem to be lower RPM which I prefer. Stock and Level 1 seem reluctant to lock the torque converter and are way too quick to unlock.

I might spring for the premium and try Level 3 on the next fillup. The Mazda needs it so the sticker shock has already passed.
