Thanks for the heads up.

I installed the Kenwood DDX712 this morning. It went pretty straight forward. I left all the mute wires unconnected and everything works fine. I also left the orange and black unconnected,no problems with the lighting. I grounded the green wire, and the dvd plays all the time. I added a reverse camera (only thing I don't like about it, is it doesn't switch on automatically- I have to push a button for it to show up). I added the bluetooth connection and Sirius (and like stated earlier, once I took the plastic cap that Ford puts on the antenna off- it connected right up to the new aftermarket tuner).

Now I need to buy some speakers! I will take some pictures of everything and introduce my truck to the forum tomorrow

Mine is the Kenwood ddx512. You just straight grounded it? I hear all this crap about a switch and having to flip it twice for it to work. Just a plain ground is doing the trick?

Yeah some models are different. Some require a double ground and some just need grounded. I tried mine with just grounding it and it wouldnt work.

Yes, I connected the green wire to a ground and it works fine (no switch needed). First, I tried to solder it in with the grounds from the 2 harnesses, but that didn't work. I had to attach it to the metal for it to work. When I had it connected to the other ground wires the front display kept opening and closing like it was loading a disk (and wouldn't stop).

I have my parking break wire grounded to the cigarette lighter ground. I don't use the cig lighter anyways so I might as well put it to use.

How hard is it to replace the radio with a DVD player? For someone that may not be 100% electrically knowledgable, but not completely retarted about things?

not that hard... just takes some time... and if you can put in a single den radio then a double den is about the same... just a little more work..

For those of you with a backup camera, where did you hook the "reverse wire" from the new radio?

I didn't hook up the purple/white wire. The backup camera I bought only had a pos and ground wire along with the yellow RCA. I hooked the pos to key on power. I plugged the RCA in, and whenever I want to use the backup camera, I just press a button on the stereo and it comes on. I believe, if you could find it, there is a reverse sensor wire under the dash. If you tapped into it with that purple/white wire, it might switch the back up camera on automatically when you put the truck in reverse. I have no idea what wire to tap into, so I just push the button if I need the camera on. The kids also like to turn it on while we are going down the road to look at all the cars behind us too
