Default Dumb Question

I have a 05 F150 XLT Crew Cab and if I go to burn out only one tire spins. I drove my friends 06 fx4 and when you burn out with that truck both tires spin. Does his truck have a limited slip rear end? Just a stupid question, I don't know much about cars/trucks, I'm a motorcycle guy but I want my truck to spin both tires and still be able to drive it daily so I didn't know if I could just get a different rear end or what would be recommended

Yea you more than likely have an open differential.

Just talked to my dad, a huge Ford guy. He says you have to have the towing package to have the posi rear end.

I beleive the LS is the rear end on the 04+ FX4's unless it was changed as an option.

Welcome to the site!

Anything is possible given enough time and money. Looking at dropping quite a few dollars just to be able to spin both tires - whether it be changing the axle parts or just buying a truck that already has the limited slip.

All 2WD trucks (ford) are non-limited slip diff's. I have a 06 XLT 2wd SCrew. I yanked my factory diff out and put in an Auburn rated for up to 650 HP. Only think back that that will break now is my spindles, or the whole rear . And let me say the limited slip makes a word of difference in the 2WD's. I would get stuck all the time (Texas Gumbo Clay) on the property the family has until I put this locker in. Now, I'm pullin my uncles 4wd 250 Diesel out when he gets stuck! Plus its alot easier to smoke out the intersections when 2 wheels spin

Welcome. I special ordered all of my trucks with lockers from Ford. Ext cab long bed trucks are worthless in the mud without all wheels turning ! You might look into an aftermarket locker. It would be cheaper than replacing the whole rear end.
