Well I have step bars and it certainly did not stop the door...hope you have better luck!

I have two on the rear door drivers side. They both show white however (truck is red). Does that mean painting will be involved or can that be blended in with something?

you mean the paint is chipped or there was paint transfer from the other car? if its just paint transfer it should rub off there with some compound. if the paint is chipped it will need to be painted.
