Default Detail Cost and Questions

How much should a good detail cost? Would you expect door jams, all bugs to be removed, headliner cleaned, door pockets cleaned? I just got my truck back and it feels like I got screwed wanted to make sure I didnt set my expectations too high.

Yep I would expect that all to be done. I consider a good detail a wash, and wax of the exterior, and for the interior, carpet shampooed and vacuumed, all panels wiped clean and all glass cleaned. Should look next to showroom clean in my book.

What do you pay for this?

Exactly. You get it "detailed" so the person shows some serious attention to detail... every little one of them.

I would never pay for it. I do all that myself. Usually a wax/polish twice a year and I wash and clean the interior weekly.

A complete detail that you describe is at least $150 in my area.

Same. But I know a girl who does it on the side for $80 because she just enjoys it. And she borrows some of my stuff to do it because she doesn't have some of her own equipment.

Got ya, I normally wash my other car (Model S) weekly, the truck gets driven so irregularly its never dirty but figured it would be good to get it detailed once a year just for the heck of it.

I am not too far from you, this is what I was quoted as the cost. I spoke to the manager who is giving me my money back, then will follow up in a week or so to go over what was missed. (I am going on vacation) Some things about the detail are driving me nuts. Dash looks like it was coated in oil, its not just shinny greasy, there were black spots on the headliner which I know were not there on both the passenger and driver sides. There is black particles all over the tan leather seats. They shined up my floormats which as super slick, I just washed them with dawn to hopefully get rid of it. Door jams not clean, wax not removed from the black plastic in certain places. Then some other things, like not vacuuming out the bed which I specifically asked for. Time to do it myself I suppose
